U21 tournament gives footballers a platform to shine

Sdew Kasi Lethu Games is dedicated to fostering local talent and providing opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills in various sports disciplines.

At the Sdew Kasi Lethu U21 tournament in Zandspruit, the stands were buzzing with excitement, loud cheers, and unwavering support as 16 teams put on a spectacular display for spectators.

The competition kicked off on September 9 and 10 with eight games of excellent football played by youngsters and top-tier goals.

It attracted teams from all around Gauteng and scouts to identify promising young players for potential future opportunities.

Tournament organiser Zodwa Mabhena said that they invited scouts from renowned football clubs to witness the spectacular display of talent at the tournament.

“They will have the chance to observe the, and potential of these young footballers. This tournament provides a platform for players to catch the attention of talent evaluators and possibly secure opportunities on a larger stage.”

She added that as the game started, the have witnessed an exceptional level of football on display. “Each team has demonstrated immense skill, strategy, and passion for the game. The competition has been fierce, and spectators have been treated to a display of exceptional teamwork, individual talent, and tactical brilliance from these young athletes.”

The next round of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be played on September 16 and 17.

“The first two days of the tournament were a resounding success, not only in terms of organization but also in the engagement and enthusiasm shown by the community.”

She urged the community to continue supporting the tournament going to the next stages. “By attending the matches, you are not just cheering for your local teams, but you are also empowering the dreams and aspirations of these young footballers.”
